Many of us, of course, have children, and I think that the type of country that we are going to leave in our wake by rewarding bad behavior… is not a better handoff to the next generation and generation after that.
I loved publishing; I loved working in the book industry, but I've been writing pretty much nonstop since I was 19. I realized very early on that I would need a day job, and I wanted one that was in books.
Honestly, I'm willing to experiment with far more variety in roles than I'm given. But ultimately, it's the producer's decision. But, I've done a variety of roles – the evil don, the evil husband… I've done villainous roles, supporting roles, etc.
I'm from Houston. I think I was thirty-seven before I ever set foot in Dallas, and that was just in the airport. So I've never really been there. Dad grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and all I can ever get out of him is, 'I wanted my first son to be named Dallas.'
I lucked out when I started to sing. I'd already experienced failing at everything else.
